Mizoram is mostly hilly. The
hills are steep and are separated by rivers which flow either to the north or
south, creating deep gorges between the hill ranges. Eastern sector is higher than western sector.
Average height of the hills is about 900 metres. The Blue Mountains
(Phawngpui) stabd out tallest with a height of 2210 metres. Flatlands adjacent
to Cachar Valley and flatlands of Champhai, Mat, Tlabung and Chamdur have
immense potentials for agriculture and horticulture development.
